Steep Learning Curve for Farming?
I've been playing guild wars for 3 years now but i've never farmed. It just seems that there is such a steep learning curve, and just reading on here, it seems so confusing, not to mention i couldn't even afford to buy the equipment to start farming. How did you guys do it; did you start farming easier places, make money and move your way up or what? What would be the best place for me as a farming nooby to farm and still make decent money without a lot of complications; I have a monk, warrior, elementalist and a ranger in PVE.

I rolled a monk, bought 600 armor (very cheap) and checked pvx + youtube for help/guides - then i found a helpfull smiter and started farming some UW.
And it pretty much evolved from there.

I hadn't either - up until SS/LB. I wasn't interested in most of the armour sets that I had to farm for, and I just kept my expenses low so I could afford the armour I did want. I can't 55 for nuts, and I started 600-ing because I was saving up Decayed Orr Emblems for Wintersday trades. ^^;

QFT!
But really, farming is nub work - very repetitive, and simpleton easy. I've done it on multiple different characters (assn, ele, monk [55/600+smiter], war, derv, ranger), and it's nothing really special. Specialized, yes, but pretty simple and mundane.
Done little UW/FoW, or dungeons (runs). Mostly just farm raptors when events are live, and the weekly Nick items. It's nice to have 5+ stacks of cupcakes, 2+ clovers, 2+ pumpkins, pie, golden eggs, etc. for doing missions/vanq. And of course for selling!!!

all this 55/600 farming is garbage. you make chump change at best with that silly stuff.
doa/uw is the most profitable farming but its the people that make that irritating.

Didn't know you can 600/smite FB, is there any special skills required for the hero or 600'er? Fleeting Stability? (don't remember was there that much interrupts, other than maelstorm or knockdowns) Or will the standart 600/smite work (talking about this one without the blood renewal or UA on hero)
On topic:
I didn't find farming really that hard for the first time i did, i think it was the trolls outside of droknar's forge - died few times yes, but it was kinda easy to learn and after that new farming builds weren't that hard to learn (for a monk that is)

yes standerd solo farming is mindless boring and not so hard most of the times.
if your an beginning farmer, try out places like bergen hot springs or the hydra's outside of augory rock as 55HP or 600HP monk.
dont forget HM
if you can kill those without problems, try FoW or UW farming as 600/smite team.
you can look on pvxwiki.com for builds.

well i would go to www.pvxwiki.com personally just look to the right side where it says "Farming" and click "Great" that will bring you to the easiest and most effective farms with builds armor set ups weapons needed and runes i'd give you the direct like to the 600/smite build but the firewall at the college blocked pvx

Next to the Sin, Necro and 330 rit, the Monk is the most classic farmer out there. I've only been playing for a year but i started reading up on the 55 monk. Paid someone to run me from Beacon's Perch to Droknar's forge then from Droks to Granite Citadel and capped the elite Shield of Judgement for the classic 55hp (OwAU0KH/SIG1DkGMlAUkyTfA) Note you'll need the Grim Cesta to be able to get down to 55hp.
Next thing to do is watch the videos out on youtube and just practice practice practice. Once you get the timing down it really becomes easy and very repetitive. I've never really been low on gold since then. I don't always trick out my toons since it's all eye candy and prestige-wear.
But what i do is save weapon mods like fortitude and 20% enchanting and inscribable staffs with +10e +5e so i can craft w/ a 20% enchanting mod and a +5e over 50% health inscription which can be very valuable and useful for Sins in particular for their permaform builds.
Good things to farm are those Avarcia birds for their feathers which are very important for consets, Glittering dust, bones, plant fiber. It's amazing how the common materials can be pretty profitable when you turn them into consets.

ok i lol`d when i read that.
1, if you cannot find a reliable partner for 600/smite then go as the 600 and use a hero to bond you - its not really that hard a thing to do.You can get bonders easily enough in toa for uw/fow ( only hard if you done have any hero access )
2, solo monks are really limited on where they can farm - 600/smite loads will tell you can farm almost anywhere in gw ( some places already mentioned in replies ).
I find it hard to believe in your 3 years you either have no friends in gw who play monks ( almost everyone after a few months has met a player with a monk of some form ) or you alliance has no monk players at all which i also find hard to believe.Myself i know several guildies with monks as well as having contacts who play monks and i dont find it hard to find reliable players.
